Explore at Aamod Shoghi
Holidays are also about exploring. At Aamod, we offer the most extensive range of adventure activities in Shimla. Our exhaustive options of exploration will tire you but never disappoint you.
We at Aamod provide the best trekking in Shimla. From wholesome experience of trekking to safety, we excel at everything we undertake. Your safety is of utmost importance to us.
Trekking at Aamod is combined with your choice of accompaniments for food and beverages to make it even more fun – packed lunches, hot meals, snacks – you decide, give us some advance notice and we will set it up for you, along the trails, on a meadow in the forest (sorry, can’t help it we are incorrigible foodies.)
Afterall, “Chotti Chotti Khushian” – that’s our motto.
“Good Times” – Our Recreation Centre: Find the recreation cottage nestled next to the Reception to discover a host of indoor activities, video games and board games (Monopoly, Scrabble, Life, Cluedo, Playing Cards, Chess, Ludo, Chinese Checkers ….) to choose from. Or if it is Carom, Archery, Table Tennis or even Basket Ball, we have it for you. Find a book from the collection in our well stocked library. Or rent a DVD and DVD player from the Reception to enjoy an old classic. Try your singing skills with our Karaoke system or play Tambola and other games organised by our team from time to time or on request. Contact our Front Desk for more details.
Nature Trails: We want to revive the simple joys of walking in the woods with families – things we all used to do as kids with our parents and grandparents, but have seem to lost them along the way with our busy modern urban lives. Nothing grand – just simple nature walks, spotting several species of flora and fauna (birds, barking deer, mountain goats, and who knows … the occasional leopard). The grandeur comes from the dense forests and magnificent views of the mountains and valleys. Or get bolder – experience the woods at night, with a guide of course. We will supply you with torch lights (and of course local stories to add to the fun and games!!!). And as we said, our restaurant team can set-up delicious picnic meals (you decide how extensive and where) along the way – “Chotti Chotti Khushian”.
There are several walking trails of varying difficulty and duration – 1-2 hours, half day, full day, night walks, walks along the World Heritage Kalka-Shimla Train track with its tunnels, bridges. We could even do overnight trips. We have indicated and described a sample set for you at the end. Our Activity and Restaurant team will only be delighted to speak with you, understand your requirements, give you the ideas and then tailor the whole experience as per your taste.
Camping: Camping within the resort or out in the woods. Just a fun evening exercise to set up camp, cook a camp meal, and learn about jungle survival or actually camp overnight (with sleeping bags etc.), you choose and we will organise it.
Orienteering: Fancy finding your way around the mountains, with some clues, maps, a compass – of course with guides by your side (mostly silent spectators, but will make sure you don’t wander too much off track). You will be dropped off at a starting point and given torches and compass. Your mission is to reach back to Aamod resort within the specified time. We can set a course anywhere from 20 minutes to half a day. This is great fun whether you are a family group or a corporate group. Compete against the clock or against other teams.
Mountain Biking: Explore the tracks around Aamod on a mountain bike. Several different routes, from simple to tough, mostly flat to all the way down to the nearby river (and back up, if you want to push yourself more). Helmets, knee pads etc. – you will have it all. And of course, the food options.
Sample of Additional Group Games/Team Building Activities
Hangman: Time bound activity for a group for 10 minutes per team, including briefing and set-up time. One of the team members is hung from a tall tree with the help of a rope and other equipment so that his body is horizontal, but upside-down. Other team members have to control the hangman with the help of additional ropes connected to the Hangman, which can move him around horizontally and/or change his direction/orientation. The Hangman, with the help of his team mates, has to collect various articles placed on the ground in a circle and place them correctly in to various buckets kept outside the circle. Each item has points attached to it (negative if placed in the wrong bucket). The more that you collect and place correctly within the specified time, the more points your team makes. Planning your strategy and good execution – both are important – and of course having lots of fun.
Sinking Island: This activity requires around 10-15 minutes + briefing time. The group is divided into 3 teams each with some attributed disability – one team is blind, one deaf and one dumb. They have all been told that they are on an island which is going to drown within 10 minutes and they have to help each other and avoid drowning and escape from the sinking island, with the help of 6 golden plates which cannot drown.
Blind Man Walking: Here we divide the group into 2 person teams, with one member blindfolded and the other leading/helping the blindfolded person to walk properly through a selected jungle trail. Lots of fun as each team/personality type, has their own way of leading the other and/or following their partner, requiring a lot of trust on the partner/mentor who is helping you walk through some rough terrain
Trust Fall: Imagine falling backward (often blindfolded) from a certain height and depending upon or trusting your other team-mates who are standing down to hold you when you fall. Leap of faith? Quite literally, as you have to place trust in your team mates to ensure your safety.
Running Marbles: Split the group into 2 or more teams where each team is provided with a glass on both sides of the marked area, with marbles in one of them and pipe pieces split into half to roll down the marbles. The objective is to transfer as many marbles as possible from one side to the other within the specified time, by making it travel across the pipes. Since the pipes are limited, you have to keep transferring the pipes downstream as the marbles travel onwards. Any marbles falling down have to be returned to the starting point – tough luck! Requires skill and patience and teamwork – can’t do it alone!
